Calling all coders, journalists and citizens interested in following the money and seeing how campaign contributions affect legislation in New Jersey. Registration is now open for our  Sept. 21 “Law, Money and Politics” hack day at NJIT. This very focused event will have two tracks: one for experienced coders who will build an app or widget out of the Sunlight Foundation’s Open States API, and another for non-coders who will go on a data expedition to find the biggest political donors in the state, see who’s been taking their money and see what laws might have been passed or defeated as a result.

Sign up now at Eventbrite and tell us what team you’ll be on.

“Law, Money and Politics” will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Student Center at NJIT in Newark, easily accessible by train and car. The event is free.

Our sponsors are the NJ News Commons in the School of Communication at Montclair State, NJIT, the Sunlight Foundation and Broadstreet Ads.
